*A continuación publicamos dos poemas del libro The Long Now Conditions Permit en inglés, traducidos al español por Margarita Pintado para Distropika.

Go to the break of anything, it is a home

every bone in the river breaks

to free her throat’s brokered silence

there

her abode

*First published in The Long Now Conditions Permit published by the University of Nevada Press, 2025. Reprinted with the permission of the University of Nevada Press. © Jami Macarty 2025.

Ocean

::

What years blink away while a woman waits—

::

She walks toward the syllables of an infinite god

carrying her own damage and worn by a wind

against what most wants to be given voice

::

When wind gusts                            gull’s disturbed lift

   then clouds slight light

::

Ocean breaks on the beach—

where touched               sand shadows

         and shapes

something coming to knowledge

::

What a woman has lived through—

      undercurrents capsize currents

     her body capsized by a will

Horizon         drags belonging

        to another coast

::

A pugency          in blue whale carcass the scent of her end

                                         breaches a panic

::

Ocean repeats its song             chants                  Ride the waves

                  Unmoor              the privacy of your skin’s blue contusions

*First published in Interim: A Journal of Contemporary Poetry and Poetics, 36.5 2020. Subsequently, the poem appears in The Long Now Conditions Permit published by the University of Nevada Press, 2025. Reprinted with the permission of the University of Nevada Press. © Jami Macarty 2025.

 Océano

::

Años parpadean mientras una mujer espera—

::

::

::

::

Lo que una mujer ha vivido—

corrientes subterráneas volcando corrientes

su cuerpo volcado por una voluntad

El horizonte                arrastra pertenencias

a otra costa

::

::
